Who is Kgosi Matlala?

When I was just 6 I would go-kart on a dusty outdoor track in Gauteng and I loved it.

Then when I turned 7 my father took me go-karting at an indoor track for the first time and I was hooked. That was when he realised where my true talent lay. He said to me, "You drive like a 20-year old my son."

I am Kgosi Matlala and I race competitively at a national level. I won the f400 karting championship in 2020. I am also the youngest newcomer in the sport to have achieved this much success so quickly. My passion is competitive racing, my dream is Formula 1.

Now, in my early teens, I am a skilled racing driver taking the competitive go-karting scene by storm, and yet to compete in the  (to be announced)  for the 2022 season.

Competitive racing

I was 13 when I started racing competitively. It was 2019 and nothing could hold me back when I took to the race-track. My passion and need for speed quickly established me as one of the top contenders in the karting scene. I finished 4th in the first season and started competing on a national level. My ealy success saw me move up the ranks into a larger class in South African motorsports.

When I first hit that track, I felt something I had never felt before. It was true passion. It was joyful. To race is my calling.
